Single-Vineyard Reserve Wines

Hypersonic Pinot Noir

In 2016, we decided to replant a southern block of our Carneros Estate with Mt. Eden clone Pinot Noir due to this site’s appealing gentle slope and western-facing aspect. The Mt. Eden clone Pinot Noir is similar to Calera clone but with smaller clusters and berries and a slightly different flavor profile. We have been so pleased by how well this clone has performed that, for the first time, we decided to bottle it as a single-block reserve wine in 2021. The name “Hyperdrive” was inspired by the location of the vineyard block between Doug Aitken’s “Sonic Mountain” and “Vertical Panorama Pavilion” by Studio Other Spaces, paying homage to Yang Bao’s Hyperdrive album. The musical nature of both pieces resonates with the harmony and vibrancy found in our Hypersonic Pinot Noir.

Donum Vineyard

Spanning nearly 200 acres, the Donum Vineyard is home to our oldest plantings, the Donum Home, our state-of-the-art production facility, and our renowned art collection, The Donum Collection. Nestled in the rolling hills that rise from the San Pablo Bay, the vineyard is divided into more than 25 distinct blocks and sub-blocks, each showcasing a diverse array of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay clones—including a proprietary Donum clone and heirloom selections. Planted between 1990 and 2022, these estate vines are meticulously farmed by Donum’s dedicated winemaking and vineyard teams.
